Firearms, like any other type of machinery or mechanical structure, are artful in their own right. There has never been a shortage of people throughout the history of the existence of firearms, that would customize or otherwise adorn their tools of self preservation to personalize the outward appearance. Just as a pair of scissors can be either bought from the nearest convenience store, or purchased for large sums of money from an artisan that handcrafts each individual pair with care an attention, so too are firearms capable of being more than simple tools.

I am thoroughly enthralled by the notion of 3D Printed firearms spurring on new possibilities in this regard, allowing more people than ever before to not only craft the tools of their own protection, but to also do so with a method of manufacture that is more free-form than anything that has existed in an easily obtainable way prior.

Over the course of creating the designs which I have made, I’ve found great joy in being able to take artistic liberty in the way which I am able to show said designs to people. I firmly believe this general notion of 3DP firearms as effectively functional works of art, is a key point to drive home when engaging with people that may otherwise have a fearful or negative view on the subject.
